Submission Guidelines

Reading the Archive welcomes submissions in English or Hindi from graduate students and early-career researchers. We encourage submissions that are methodologically rigorous, theoretically informed, and contribute to the ongoing discourse in archival studies and related fields.

Submission Requirements:

  • Manuscript Length: Articles should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words, including footnotes and references. Reviews may range from 1,000 to 1,500 words. Translations, photo-essays and interviews could be upto 2,500 words.
  • Formatting: Submissions must follow The Chicago Manual of Style (Turabian) and be double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font. Refer this link: Turabian Citation Quick Guide Notes and Bibliography Samples.pdf
  • Abstract: Each manuscript must include an abstract of 250-300 words summarizing the key arguments and contributions.
  • Keywords: Authors should provide 4-6 keywords that encapsulate the article's main themes.
  • Visuals: The journal encourages contributors to include visuals such as photographs, graphs, and tables. All visuals should be in JPEG or TIFF format, with a minimum of 300 dpi. Copyrights will be the responsibility of the author(s).
  • Submission Process: Manuscripts must be submitted via the journal's online submission system.
  • Review Process: All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Authors can expect initial feedback within 4-6 weeks.
  • Publication Frequency: The journal will be published biannually, with issues released in the Monsoon and Winter.
  • Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee publication. Only those that meet the journal’s minimum standards will be considered for publication. The decision of the Editorial Board will be final and binding.
